Many of
us were taught to close our eyes when praying. This is a prayer with a focus on
being in God’s presence rather than performing in God’s presence with the
right-brain experience of feeling what is holy-a divine mystery without much
distraction.
In
today’s Gospel reading Pharisees and scribes ask of Jesus and SIGN, end of
time. In response, Jesus said, “you evil and unfaithful generation ask of sign
but none will be given except that of Jonah”.
This
language of Jesus is figurative and symbolical like he died and after three
days he resurrected from the dead, it is important to gaze at the crucifix with
complete attention and to pray with them. Gazing is probably the best word to
touch the core of our spirituality. With many accounts of evil spirits, the
scripture affirms spiritual forces (foil spirits) which are familiar with human
weaknesses and desires while some more vile than others.
These
spirits of error can enter and posses people and the ramification are sick and
terrible manifestations. Harden not your heart, but keep the faith strong to
resist temptations, wickedness and corruption of the human race and when the
void in us is filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, we transcend to our
higher power.
The End.
